This is part 2 in our “Why Play the Bass Guitar?” series.
So you’ve been playing the guitar for a while but not at the skill level you’d like? Here’s some great news!
The strings on a bass guitar are the same tuning as the bottom four strings on a regular guitar. You’ve got two less strings to worry about and you probably already know most of the notes on the bass fretboard.
Also since individual notes are mainly played on the bass, there’s no more tricky chord shapes to learn or complex strumming patterns to figure out.
This makes it extremely easy for any guitar player to pick up the bass and start playing right away. Also a lot of the accessories you already have will likely work with a bass as well. Some effects pedals, picks, straps, tuners and more will work with your new bass guitar.
Switching to the bass doesn’t mean abandoning the guitar all-together. Instead you will be adding a new weapon to your musical arsenal. Why play just one instrument, when you can play two?
In part 3 we will talk about the huge need and demand for bass guitar players.
